Communications Recommendations

Comments
Macoupin County Sheriff's Department --Current system is inadiquate and not in the best safety interest of the officers:
For Example: On the early morning of Dec 22, about 12:30am, I heard Macoupin County attempting to communicate with a mobile officer.   He was trying to give a 10-28, but she could not here them.  At the exact same time, while I was mobile, monitoring this frequency just south of Wood River, on Route 143, I could here the Christian County dispatcher talking on 159.09, which is the input frequency for their 155.7 repeater in Sharpsburg, near Taylorville.   The power of that station (base station for repeater input "FX1") is so strong that it is over powering the mobile units of the Macoupin County Sheriff's Department, even though Digtal pL is used by MCSD and pL is used by Christian County

By moving 159.09 to Brighton, there won't be as many problems with Christian County (in both respects).
Brightons lower power and distance will not affect Christian County as much and Christian wont affect Brighton at all with it being the repeater output

Repeaters
Also, almost every other county in the surrounding area has a repeater in place for its Sheriff's Department and/or 911/Fire/EMS personnel.  All these counties are smaller in area, but not necessarily in population.   For the protection of our people, a repeater (FB2-Mobile Relay) would be a big asset.
Madison County Sheriff's Dept. 158.85 (Car-to-Car Repeater)
Sangamon County Sheriff's Dept. 155.535 (Dispatch Repeater)
Morgan County Sheriff's Dept 159.21 (Dispatch Repeater)
Bond County Sheriff's Dept. 155.01 (Dispatch Repeater)
Jersey County Sheriff/911 155.805 (Dispatch Repeater)
Greene County Sheriff's Dept 154.4075 (Dispatch Repeater)
Christian County Sheriff's Dept 155.07 (159.09 input-same as Macoupin Sheriff Dispatch)

Christian uses pL tone, Macoupin uses DpL tones.   Sheriff Dispatch in Taylorville control station is a 100wt (175w ERP) that transmits just 4 miles away to Sharpsburg where the repeater is located.  This FX-1 station on 159.09 blasts all across central IL affecting other users on the frequency)  The high power of this station is often drowning out mobile units (deputies) who are talking back to the Sheriff's Dept in Carlinville, even though there is a pL difference.  Also, there are many other agencies using 159.09, although they may not affect use in Macoupin:  Coles County, Charleston (Repeater); Red Bud (Randolph County); Marion County, Salem (Repeater) In Missouri, Washington University, St. Louis (Repeater)   I would recommend moving dispatch off of this frequency.  High power, 300ft tower in Carlinville should reach all of county on transmit.  Mobile Extenders may not be needed with a repeater, but may not hurt to keep around.
