MABAS Division 41 Website According to an article that had appeared in the Pantagraph, the emergency system codes are: Alpha - BLS response without lights and sirens; no ALS; Bravo - BLS with lights and sirens; no ALS; Charlie - BLS with lights and sirens; ALS without lights and sirens; Delta - BLS and ALS with lights and sirens; Omega - No response; referral to another agency such as poison control. The article went on to say that all agencies don't follow these recommendations. For example, NFD responds "delta" to every call regardless. I have also heard of an echo response, and I'll have to assume that this means; "step it up, cause things are getting worse, fast" or something of that nature. The echo response wasn't listed in the Pantagraph article. I wish I could remember when this was posted in the newspaper. I only have the text from the original article posted on the BBoard in our squadhouse. A comment from the Metcom dispatchers would be welcomed here, as our agency didn't know anything about these response levels until we saw the article in the Pantagraph. Is there routinely any sort of written doc on the various protocols created by the Metcom staff, circulated to all of the responding agencies? Posted: Sun Dec 29, 2002 8:51 pm Post subject: ems codes the last response was partial correct, Delta and Echo responses are the same BLS - code 3 ALS - code 3 (lights & sirens) Omega response for now is the same as a Alpha response ie person fell needs help getting back up that type of calls. Until the Dr's of our ems system can decide what to do with Omega calls that is how we are dispatching the calls out. Also you will notice on BFD/NFD ambulance calls we are also giving out with the cad system recommends we have been doing this for the last few months to see how the cad system is working with what the fire depts plans was put into our system.
