The Henry County Sheriff's Office is also one of three 9-1-1 Public Safety Answering Points (PSAP) and handles emergency 9-1-1 calls for all of Henry County outside the city limits of Geneseo and Kewanee, which have their own PSAP's. Geneseo was the location of the first 9-1-1 system in Illinois which went into service on May 6, 1968. This was a basic 9-1-1 system serving approximately 5,000 people. Today, Henry County Telecommunicators use an Enhanced 9-1-1 system for receiving and dispatching calls to over 40 police, fire, and emergency medical services.
